At time like this where job seekers outweigh the number of available opportunities, it can be quite challenging to get your resume noticed by recruiters, even if it is the best fit for the role — especially in Tech, which is becoming more saturated by the day. Additionally, there are often job seekers who are more fitting for these positions in terms of skill sets, experience, educational background, and recommendations. While some are stressed over applying for jobs and receiving rejection letters, others are successfully juggling multiple gigs alongside their full-time role or project.

You may be wondering must everyone write! Huh! writing technical or non-technical articles can attract job offers from companies out of the box or make other developers notice you and will want to recommend you when there's a role that fits your skill set.

In every profession, there has to be some sort of information one possesses that's relevant to others and to yourself in the coming years. This is one of the reasons why you should consider writing. I remember how an article I wrote on integrating laravel fortify with bootstrap helped me to fix an issue without a tussle. It must not be a full-blown article, it could be a tweet, a thread, a LinkedIn post, a solution on gist. By any means, just ensure you're putting out something for someone else to learn. We also get better at learning when we share information because it gives room for others to share their perspectives on a subject matter.

Build or support or contribute to tech community (ies)

Join in volunteering to help people get into tech by building or supporting tech communities. It's another way to be noticed by the public. Ideally, getting to be noticed comes by default and shouldn't be like the aim for supporting, building or impacting others. Someone will definitely take note of your skillset and tell others about it. Yea!

Have a tailored resume and social media profile

Have a section that points to your resume on your social media profile. There are several occasions where organizations have emailed me directly based on what they saw on my resume without them having to message me on any of the social media platforms. If you have experience in different programming languages arrange them in such a way that fits into a role description else it'll look like a situation where someone is learning at random which might be a turn off for recruiters.

It's important to have good engagement on social media platforms by posting links to your repositories, demo projects, visual content or articles. Your post can appear in a recruiter's timeline. Lol

Personal Branding

This all about your image or what you are known for or what you stand for....

• Integrity ( being honest and maintaining balanced principles)

• Be consistent ( learn and share information about what you do regularly)

• Character (being good at a skill does not call for abuse or making jest of others when they ask questions )

• Packaging (be organized, build your communication skills, work on having balanced self-esteem, appear and smell nice too)

• Authenticity (Be real there's no harm in admitting that you're not knowledgeable in a subject matter) I know HTML and CSS with a bit of Javascript. Dear friend having an idea and knowing something practically isn't the same.

Here's one thing some developers take for granted - every product you build is a potential billboard showcasing your personality to recruiters and other developers.

The approach towards handling client's abuse or miscommunication is important. Simply put, diplomatically handle and resolve conflicts such that they can recommend you to others. They may not be a good client to you but might have another that fits your ideal client if there's such.

NB: People are watching your comments, reactions, contents of your articles it's important to strategize how to showcase the areas of competence.

Use Linkedin professionally

• Set a good bio -Add a professional headshot -Follow and engage post in your area of expertise

It's important to note that Linkedin is one of the best platforms that literally place your profile, bio and other relevant details on the recruiter's desk. Recruiters have reached out severally sending in offers and asking for availability to take up an offer. Take skill tests, request recommendations and skill approval from your network. Offer free or affordable digital solutions that solves a pressing problem and reach out to those who need it

Build tools that solve problems that are tailored towards organizational or public needs. There are free platforms that can help stage a product for demo purposes. Even if there are no platforms to showcase these solutions please don't keep them hidden. Post and explain the solutions on social media. A recruiter might be the first to engage it. Yea!
